Last updated in 2007, the City of Bedford’s modernized Master Plan will reflect current community desires, adjust to new market conditions, and create a vision for areas of opportunity.

In line with regional trends, Bedford has experienced population loss since the early 2000s; as a result, the City has newfound opportunities for redevelopment and innovation. Whether reimagining these sites as community amenities, places to live, or new job centers to boost the City’s economy, the planning process will rely on extensive community engagement to ensure Bedford remains an attractive and desirable place.

Phases

  • Current Conditions: The first phase of the planning process will examine existing data relative to similar Cuyahoga County communities to give an overview of the City’s conditions.
  • Community Vision: Extensive collaboration between County Planning, the City of Bedford, and community members will take place to better understand the vision and goals of the City.
  • Recommendations: The recommendations phase will compile information from the first two phases to create a cohesive set of recommended actions that the City can feasibly pursue.
  • Implementation: This phase will produce a detailed outline of the steps the City can take to carry out the recommendations, including funding resources and potential partners
