MINUTES OF THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION

FEBRUARY 8, 2018

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting of the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission (County Planning) was called to order by Vice-Chair Sunny Simon and the roll call showed a quorum was present.

ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
The floor was opened for nominations for Board Chair.  Councilperson Simon nominated Mr. Ken Surratt, with a second by Mayor Byrne.  With no other nominations from the floor, the nominations were closed.  The vote was unanimous to elect Ken Surratt as Chair.

The floor was opened for nominations for board Vice-Chair. Mr. Surratt nominated Councilperson Simon, with a second by Mayor Byrne.  With no other nominations from the floor, the nominations were closed.  The vote was unanimous to elect Councilperson Simon as Vice-Chair

MINUTES
On a motion by Mayor Bobst, seconded by Councilperson Simon, the minutes of the December 14, 2017 meeting were duly adopted by unanimous vote.

RESOLUTIONS
On a motion by Councilperson Simon, seconded by Mayor Bobst, Resolution 180208-A, Approval of the Final Plat for Schady Reserve PRD Subdivision (Phase 3), was duly adopted by unanimous vote.

Councilperson Brown and Mr. Garland arrived at the meeting.

On a motion by Mayor Bobst, seconded by Mr. DiCicco, Resolution 180208-B, Approval of Contract with R. P. Stephenson & Associates, Inc. for Continuing Technical Services was duly adopted by unanimous vote.

CHAIR’S REPORT
There was no Chair Report.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Mr. Coyne advised that on February 1, 2018, the applications went out for the Community Master Plan grants for communities with plans older then ten (10) years. The deadline for applications is April 6, 2018.

Mr. Coyne recognized Marionette Richardson-Scott for 18 years of public service to the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission.  Ms. Richardson-Scott resigned her position as Principal Planner to pursue other professional opportunities.  She thanked everyone for her time with County Planning.

James Sonnhalter introduced spring 2018 Co-ops Hannah Kiraly and Nate Weyand-Geise.

There were no items of New Business.

ADJOURNMENT
Councilperson Simon motioned to adjourn the meeting, the motion was seconded by Mayor Byrne and was duly agreed by unanimous vote.

The next scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

SOLID WASTE POLICY COMMITTEE MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting of the Solid Waste Policy Committee was called to order by Councilperson Simon.  Mr. Mathias and Mr. DeMuth joined the meeting as members of the Solid Waste Policy Committee.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Diane Bickett gave a review of State plan goals and requirements, key findings and conclusions from strategic analysis, Solid Waste plan priorities, actions and programs, and a summary of results of Municipal Survey.

ADJOURNMENT
Councilperson Simon call for adjournment.
