Director, Cuyahoga County Department of Regional Collaboration
Christopher Alvarado is the Director of Regional Collaboration for the Cuyahoga County. This cabinet-level position was created in 2011 to identify and implement opportunities for collaboration among municipalities to save money and improve service delivery across the region. He serves as the point person and resident expert for the County Executive on matters of regional service delivery and cooperation.
Most recently, Chris was the Executive Director of Slavic Village Development (SVD), the community development corporation serving the 22,000 residents living in Cleveland’s Broadway Slavic Village neighborhood. SVD pioneered programs to provide housing assistance to thousands of households, partnered with other neighborhoods and cities, developed equitable neighborhood leadership programs, and led the planning that made Broadway Slavic Village the world’s largest EcoDistricts-Certified neighborhood.
In Chris’s past capacity on the staff of the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, he developed methodologies for determining the economic, environmental, and social impacts of development, and coordinated environmental planning with economic development.
Chris has helped create Bike Cleveland and EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute and was their inaugural Board President and Board Secretary, respectively.
