The City of Lakewood has a history of investing in public art. With an impressive sixty-seven pieces of public art, Lakewood's public art program began in 2014 and expanded with the creation of the Public Art Advisory Board (PAAB). The City of Lakewood applied for and was awarded professional planning services through the 2025 Community Planning Services Program for a Public Art Master Plan.

We want to know how you feel about existing public art and its location throughout Lakewood. Please take five minutes to complete the Lakewood Public Arts Master Plan Survey before September 30, 2025.

The Public Art Master Plan (the Plan) furthers the successes and advances the processes established by the City of Lakewood and the PAAB.  The Plan will document the placement, themes, accessibility, and diversity of representation of existing public artwork in Lakewood; identify art installation and maintenance challenges; and make recommendations to ensure public art in the City of Lakewood remains vibrant, innovative, diverse, and accessible into the future.

Recommendations will identify where public art could and should be located; will explore the various types of art and art innovations that could be encouraged; and ensure that public art, artists, and processes involving outreach, engagement, education, and approvals are diverse, equitable, and inclusive. The Plan will also identify new funding sources for public art that will ensure that public art continues to be a robust and impactful component within the City of Lakewood.
