As part of our efforts to inform and provide services to Cuyahoga County communities, the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission offers a Planning 101 workshop for local elected and appointed officials.

The workshop, an introduction to urban planning, includes an overview of local history, master planning, zoning ordinances, and development regulations.

The first Planning 101 workshop was held in October 2013 for the Westshore Council of Governments. It was followed by workshops in Lyndhurst and Olmsted Falls. Most recently, a workshop was held in April 2017 in South Euclid. So far, more than 90 community leaders from Beachwood, Euclid, Fairview Park, Lakewood, Lyndhurst, Mayfield Heights, Olmsted Falls, Richmond Heights, Rocky River, South Euclid, and University Heights have participated in the sessions. Local leaders praised the events.

“Thanks for your efforts to make last night’s training session a great success. We had 34 attendees, spread equally between Fairview Park, Rocky River, and Lakewood. I certainly learned several items of value. I know the Lakewood folks felt it was very worthwhile.”Mayor Michael P. Summers of Lakewood

“I believe the training session last evening was very successful. Many commented that they felt a part of the bigger picture of what communities are striving for when making decisions. I am glad I attended.”Mayor Eileen Patton of Fairview Park
